TANZANIA: Visit of the Vice-President of ASSIFIC to the Schools of the Province

School at Ste Mary Duluti School in Arusha.

From January to February 2025, several Communities in the Province of Saint-Michael-the Archangel had the honor and privilege of welcoming the Vice-President and a Delegate of ASSIFIC, Marthe Chevallier, for a two-month tour in the Tanzanian part of the Province.

The Tour included visits to five Brothers Communities and Schools in the Saint-Michael the Archangel Province, including: St. Anthony Secondary School-Mbagala, Dar-es-Salaam; La Mennais Brothers Centre VTC and Le Postulat-Soweto, Moshi; St. Mary Secondary School – Duluti-Tengeru in Arusha; Singe Secondary School in Babati-Manyara; Uchama Saint-Justin Secondary School in Nzega, Tabora.

She was able to observe the humanitarian response to the complex realities and emergency situations affecting the country, due to poverty, arid climatic conditions, lack of resources, unskilled labor and limited technical know-how, natural and man-made disasters (conflicts), etc.

Marthe was also able to visit several families living in temporary rural shelters, see the lack of basic health education, assess education programs and teaching and learning aids, analyze infrastructure and see the simple livelihoods of villagers. The challenges remain immense and complex, and international aid and NGOs like ASSIFIC are essential.
