ITALY – ROME: News from the Generalate

One of the missions of the Generalate in Rome is to welcome, and since February, there has been no shortage of meetings at the Generalate!

And first of all, pilgrims! Jubilee year obliges!

* 5 Haitian priests from the Society of Saint-Jacques (in parishes in Finistère or Côtes d’Armor, or on mission in Guiclan, at the Generalate).

* 2 pilgrims from Belgium: Andrea Maria and Maria Angelica

* Father Francis Byaruhanga,Ugandan priest, student in Rome, friend of Brother Eric Mugisa.

* Then, on the occasion of the General Council of February-March 2025, we received 3 Brothers from France: Brother Yannick Houssay, Brother Provincial, Brother Pierrick Busson, Brother Deputy Provincial and Brother Laurent Bouillet, Brother Provincial Bursar. The objective of their coming to Rome was first to work with the General Government of the Institute, but it was also an opportunity to pass through the Holy Doors!

Jubilee events with the General Council and the Brothers of France: in Saint-Pierre, in and outside Sainte-Marie Majeure.

* Brother Gildas Prigent, Brother Visitor of Asia, but also 4th Assistant Brother.

* Mr. Yves Delarra, FIC Expertise, well known in the congregation, was also welcomed to the Casa on the occasion of the General Council, as part of his accounting expertise mission to the Brother General Treasurer.

The Community of the Casa and Sister Simona

* The General Council and the Casa Community were delighted to welcome Sister Simona Brambilla, the new Prefect of the Dicastery for Consecrated Life (DIVCSVA). Brother Hervé Zamor, Superior General, and Sister Simona were students at the Gregorian University at the same time.

Mgr Anaclet Mwumvaneza, Bishop of Nyundo

* Bishop Anaclet MWUMVANEZA, Bishop of the Diocese of NYUNDO. When Bishop Anaclet comes to Rome for various missions and meetings, he likes to come to our house, and we appreciate his fraternal presence!

* We finally welcomed the three priests of our parish: Father Bernardo Pinheiro, parish priest, and his two vicars, new this year, Father Lino Mela and Father Remigio Okafor; all three are Oblates of Saint Joseph, in charge of our parish.

* To complete this table of visitations, the entire Community of Casa and Sant’Ivo responded to the invitation of the Brothers of Saint-Gabriel, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the presence in Rome of their Archivist, Brother Bernard Guesdon. These meetings between the Brothers of Ploërmel and Saint-Gabriel, were disrupted by Covid…. We will get back into the rhythm!
