UGANDA – Nabinoonya: Brothers’ Retreat
It was a tradition that was now well established in each Province/District: the Time of the Annual Retreat. The Province of St. Therese of the Child Jesus (Uganda, South Sudan) experienced it again this year at the Site of Nabinoonya, on the shores of Lake Victoria where the Brothers have a Property. It is a space that hosts many Groups and Events. Recently the Province built a Whole Complex of Rooms there. It was there that the Brothers experienced their Retreat from December 8th to 14th , 2024.

That Retreat was led by Father Andrew Kyagulanyi, under the Theme: “Servants of Hope, let us not grow weary of Doing Good.” It is quite natural that humans tend to grow weary of doing beautiful things. Each of us knows this experience of something that excited us, but today, due to lack of zeal, everything has faded. At first, the Joy of Teaching or Instructing was strong, but now for some, the weariness of doing good is felt. The courage and inner strength to surpass oneself have evaporated.

During the Retreat, the Brothers were encouraged not to give up even when situations seem unfavourable. He is the one who Guides and Directs everyone’s Progress and Endurance. We would reap in due time if we do not lose Heart.
In his Speech, the Provincial Superior – Bro Casio Aizire – asked the Brothers to welcome the call to Missionary Life, both in the Country and Abroad, to go to the Peripheries, in particular the Three New Missions which are now Mature and Awaiting Workers!

IVORY COAST – ABIDJAN: Visit of Brother Hervé ZAMOR, Superior General
The FIC Scholasticate of Abidjan had the Joy of welcoming Brother Hervé ZAMOR, Superior General for a stay from November 26th to December 7th , 2024. That Canonical Visit, which was the very First of his Second Term, testifies not only to the importance he attached to the Future of the Congregation, but also to the Formation of the Scholastic Brothers.
During Brother Hervé’s stay, several events took place, including the Celebration of the Eucharist on the evening of November 30th, 2024, which marked the Climax of the Novena of Prayer for the Beatification of Our Venerable Father, Jean Marie de La Mennais. The Mass was presided over by Father Joseph Zinsou, Parish Priest of Notre Dame de l’Incarnation. Fathers Elie and Franklin, Our Chaplains, were Concelebrants
After Mass, a Festive and Fraternal Meal was offered to Our Guests. It was shared in Joy and in all Simplicity.
The Superior General, at the end of his visit, reminded us of the importance for us, FIC Religious, to bear Spiritual Fruits for Ourselves and for Our Communities. The Secret to bearing Fruits: to be Brothers of Jesus Christ, to be Brothers of His brothers and to be Brothers of Children and Young People. He then exhorted us to go out to meet Young People through a Creative, Dynamic and Renewed Vocational Ministry: “Young People know better the Secrets of Young People,” he said.

The Visit to the Scholasticate of Brother Superior General was a Moment of Grace and a Unique Experience for each Brother and for the Entire Community. Our Prayers accompanied him for the Continuation of his Mission!
